Winnipeg City will be spraying to curb Dutch Elm Disease beetle.

In an effrot to control and help curb the beetles the City of Winnipeg's Insect Control Branch will begin spraying trees in select neighbourhoods beginning August 5th betwen 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, weather permitting.

The insect branch will be using a chemical called Dursban Turf kills elm bark beetles and will be sprayed in areas across the city where Dutch elm disease has killed trees. It will also be used as a preventive measure in other areas, including Elmwood Cemetery and Wildwood Club.
